FAQ

Bravunet FAQ

Sizing, fit, and what a harness cannot do.

The questions we actually get. Most are about sizing, so start there — and the honest answer to the most common one is further down, under fit and safety.

Sizing

Getting the size right first time

How do I choose a size?
By chest girth, measured all the way around the deepest part of the ribcage just behind the front legs. Full ranges are on the Size Guide. Weight and breed are not reliable — two dogs of the same weight can be two sizes apart.
I am between two sizes.
Take the larger and adjust down. Every harness has four adjustment points, so a size up that cinches in works; a size down that will not close does not. If you would rather be sure, email the chest girth, neck and weight to info@bravunet.com and we will tell you which to order.
Why does a set have two dropdowns?
Because they are two separate choices. Harness Size is the fit on your dog, chosen by chest girth. Leash Size is the width and length of the leash in the box — pick that to suit your own grip and your dog's weight, not their girth.
My dog is between growth stages.
Puppies outgrow a size quickly. If your dog is still growing, buy for the measurement now rather than the size you expect them to reach — a harness that is too big is one they can back out of.
Choosing a model

What each one is for

Model Rings Best for
Padded no-pull Front + back Dogs that pull. Padded chest and belly panels, grab handle across the back, four-point adjustment.
Cooling air-mesh Back Summer walks and short-nosed breeds. Open honeycomb mesh lets warm air move through the panel.
Harness and leash set Varies Buying both at once. Choose the leash width to suit your dog's size at checkout.

The hi-vis model adds reflective piping along the edges. One denim set also includes a waste bag pouch — the bags themselves are not included.

Which leash width should I choose?
2 cm wide (3 to 5 ft) for small and medium dogs; 2.5 cm wide (3.5 to 6 ft) for medium and large dogs. One set ships with a single-size leash instead — the product page says which.
Front clip or back clip?
Front while you are working on pulling; back for a dog that already walks well. See About Us for what each actually does.

What a harness is not

Read this one

Not a car restraint

None of our harnesses is tested or certified as a vehicle restraint, and none should be used in place of a crash-tested car harness. If you need to secure a dog in a car, buy something made and tested for that.

Every walk

Two fingers, flat

Check you can slide two fingers flat under every strap. Too tight rubs; loose enough for a whole hand is loose enough to back out of. Inspect the webbing, stitching and hardware regularly and replace anything worn.

Will a no-pull harness stop my dog pulling?
No. It redirects a pulling dog rather than teaching them not to pull — clipping at the chest turns your dog back towards you instead of letting them drive forward. It buys control while you train. Anyone who tells you a harness replaces training is selling you something.
Is the reflective piping enough for a dark road?
No. It returns light from headlights and torches; it does not emit light of its own. On an unlit road use a lit collar or a clip-on light as well.
Can my dog wear it all day?
We would not. Take it off indoors and between walks — constant wear rubs, traps heat, and hides skin problems until they are bad.
Care

Keeping it usable

How do I clean it?
Hand wash in cool water with mild soap and air dry. Do not machine wash, do not tumble dry, and keep it away from bleach — heat and harsh chemicals weaken webbing and the stitching at the load points.
How long does one last?
That depends entirely on the dog and the mileage. Judge it by the hardware and the stitching rather than the calendar: fraying webbing, a stiff or sticking buckle, or a loose D-ring all mean replace it now.

Returns and refunds

If it does not work out

Fit it indoors first. A harness that has been worn outdoors or washed cannot be returned. Put it on, adjust it, and let your dog move around the house before the first real walk.
30 days from delivery to request a return. The item must be unused, in the condition you received it, and in its original packaging with tags attached.
Email first. Send your order number and the reason to info@bravunet.com and we will reply with instructions and the return address. Parcels sent back without an approved request are not accepted.
Who pays the postage. We do, with a prepaid label, if the item arrived damaged, faulty or incorrect. For a change of mind or the wrong size, it is yours. Original shipping charges are not refunded.
Refund timing. We inspect and email you the outcome within 3 business days of the return arriving. Approved refunds go to the original payment method; allow a further 5 to 10 business days to show on your statement.
Damaged on arrival. Contact us within 7 days with photographs of the item and the packaging, and we replace or refund in full including shipping.
